2. • To investigate and integrate in-depth knowledge concerning the behaviour, ecology, and biodiversity of insects and mites across both laboratory and natural habitats.
3. • To advance research and develop innovations that utilise beneficial insects in the agricultural sector—particularly in biological insect pest control and pollination—to foster sustainable agricultural systems.
4. • To pioneer research in urban insect ecology, with a specific focus on assessing the role of green roofs and green infrastructure in conserving insect biodiversity and enhancing ecosystem services within urban environments.
5. National Reference & Networking Hub
6. • To establish the Center as a premier, recognised "Hub of Expertise" in insect ecology and behaviour at both the national and ASEAN regional levels, serving the public, private, and citizen sectors.
7. • To develop a comprehensive database and cultivate cross-disciplinary academic networks with national and international research institutions to ensure the sustainable management of insect resources.
8. Public Engagement & Policy Advocacy
9. • To serve as the definitive "go-to source" for consultation, problem-solving, and technology transfer regarding integrated insect and mite management for farmers, urban planners, and relevant governmental agencies.
10. • To advocate for and provide proactive policy recommendations regarding beneficial insect conservation, urban green space management for biodiversity, and climate change adaptation through Nature-based Solutions.
11. Capacity Building
12. • To serve as a training hub aimed at cultivating early-career researchers, graduate students (MSc and PhD), postdocs, and ecological entomologists equipped with advanced skills and cross-disciplinary expertise.
